Duke Career Center: Career Ambassador
Career Ambassadors are essential members of the Career Center community. They provide guidance and advice for Duke undergraduate students on many topics (including but limited to; document development, major exploration, Career Center services and job/internship search, competencies). They are trained in the Career Center philosophy and mission; resources and services, presentation topics, document review practices, competencies and some aspects of student development.
We are currently recruiting for the Fall 2023 - Spring 2024 Academic Year!!
Qualifications:
· Rising sophomore, junior; Graduate students with at minimum 1 year remaining at Duke.
· Strong team player and desire to support peers
· Enthusiastic, dependable, flexible, and demonstrated initiative to pitch in when needed
· Good listener and effective communicator, comfortable giving and receiving feedback to/from peers and staff
· Positive, willing to learn, and open to new ideas
· Focused on professional development and interested in the mission of the Career Center
· Able to commit 6-8 hrs per week
· Work Study Students are encouraged to apply

Job Description:
This position will support the Career Center in the following ways:
Drop-In Advising Document Reviews
Career Ambassadors will be available throughout the year to assist the Career Center in Drop-In Advising reviewing resumes, cover letters and answering quick questions.
· Document Reviews will be held in person in the Bryan Center as well as virtually (schedule will be set each semester working around your provided availability).
Presentations
Career Ambassadors will support Career Center presentations. Opportunities will be available for Career Ambassadors to create presentations as well as present Career Center programs. Presentations may be done independently or in collaboration with Career Center staff members. Each will be directed by a Career Center Staff Member.
This will include:
· Presenting a Career Center program to students (there will be a requirement of 1-2 presentations per semester)
· Sophomore Spark Summit (annual, day-long event)
- Spark Your Career!
· Updating, developing or preparing presentations
Directed Projects
Career Ambassadors will work on projects with their Career Center Staff Liaison. This could include but is not limited to: Career Community content creation, writing blog posts, researching an industry topic, researching LinkedIn or the Duke Alumni Directory for information and/or alumni, supporting an event, compiling data or collecting information for assessment purposes.
Professional Development
The Career Center is committed to the intentional professional development of the Career Ambassadors. We will provide opportunities for each Career Ambassador to engage in advising meetings and other opportunities to make progress in their professional development.
Additional Duties will include:
· Supervisory Meeting with Career Center Staff
· Attend and support/volunteer at Career Center Events (weekend work possible)
· Career Ambassador Training (Monthly)
· Fall Retreat prior to the 1st week of classes (Attendance is Mandatory)
